The conquerors of the sea

The 13th international series of regattas Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge started. This year the calendar includes eleven world’s most spectacular regattas, organized in full compliance with the outstanding traditions of navigation.

The activities we hold for maintenance and development of classic sailing, have no analogues at the international level, – says CEO of Officine Panerai, Angelo Bonati. Over several years of sponsorship, we saw a large number of incredible triumphs, realized thanks to our contributing, and witnessed the rebirth of some amazing vintage vessels, which were restored using work and energy of many enthusiastic people.”

Traditionally Mediterranean cycle of regattas is held in France (Antibes, Cannes), Italy (Argentario) and Spain (Mahon, island Minorca). For participating in each regatta yacht teams get points, which may bring them victory in the overall standing of the cycle.

In August and September regattas in Marblehead, Newport, Nantucket and Bristol will provide teams the opportunity to compete for the second prize, which is awarded to the winner of the North American cycle.

In addition to Mediterranean and North American stages, also individual competitions are held: a regatta for classic yachts on the island Antigua in the Caribbean Sea and a race in the UK. Due to the geographical location of the holding points, these regattas are not included in either of the two main cycles, but are not inferior to them in the importance.
