The brand has donated an exclusive red version of its new ceramic skeletonized watch for the charity auction.
In this single-piece edition, two circular railway scales, the hour, minute and second hands, and the rolled-edge hand-made strap are all reinterpreted in red. According to Jaquet Droz, the red color, contrasting with the black ceramic of the case and the hour ring, has been chosen ‘as the color of love and the flag of Monaco, where Only Watch is based’. The grande second sub-dial is made of sapphire crystal bringing some extra transparency to the table. And as always, the off-centered grande second as well the off-centered hours and minutes are vertically aligned, forming the trademark 8.
The watch comes in a 41,5mm ceramic case and is powered by the extremely skeletonized JD2663 automatic movement with 68 hours of power reserve and an openworked white gold oscillating weight. Nearly all its parts are visible to the eye from almost any angle, including the ‘Only Watch. Piece Unique’ engraving seen under the caseback. Starting from September 25, the Only Watch traveling exhibition will visit no less than 10 cities, allowing the collectors from around the world to admire one-of-a-kind timepieces by the renowned watch manufacturers in person. The auction itself will be held in Geneva, November 9. The estimate for the Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Skelet-One is CHF 28,000 - 35,000.
