Another interesting offer from Bvlgari, presented during Dubai 2020 LMVH Week: the famous ultra-thin minute repeater now comes in a more conventional, yet unmistakably modern case material.
Following titanium (2016) and carbon (2018) versions, the new Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater measures 40-mm in diameter and 6.90-mm thick – only 0.05-mm thicker than its record-setting predecessors. The rose gold case and dial are sandblasted for a nice matte effect. Anyway, such a traditional watchmaking metal perfectly fits such a classical complication, and thanks to its resonance qualities, provides some extra benefits in the acoustic department.
The cut-out hour markers of the main dial and the small seconds sub-dial at 6 o’clock further amplify the chiming resonance and thereby optimize the sound effect. The pusher activating the striking mechanism is positioned on the case ring at 9 o’clock. The in-house ultra-thin manually wound BVL 362 caliber still measures 3.12-mm in thickness and delivers a 42-hour power reserve. Thanks to the sapphire crystal aperture on the caseback, the owner can enjoy the movement’s excellent finishings as well as gongs and hammers in action.
The water resistance is basic 30m, however it’s still quite good for a minute repeater watch – at least you’d not be terrified with a little rain. A brown matte alligator leather strap is a perfect match for the sandblasted rose gold case. The price for the Octo Finissimo Minute Repeater in Sandblasted Rose Gold is expected to be $170,000.
