A mono-pusher chronograph with an unusual striking mechanism and a constant force escapement marks the collaboration between the Swiss brand and the Ukrainian boxer Vasyl Lomachenko.
A cathedral gong mechanism, engraved with a gong hammer and visible at 10 o’clock, strikes with each start of the chronograph, symbolizing the beginning of a next round. No joking, the inscription ‘Round’ is engraved on the 2 o’clock pusher and enhanced with yellow Super-LumiNova. Both chrono counters bear the images of the Olympic medals. Finally, the choice of the blue and yellow recalls the national flag of the athlete, while the folding clasp on the alligator leather strap with the lacquered ‘Loma’ inscription mimics the champion’s belt. Now that’s what we call a boxing-inspired watchmaking!
The hands are coated with yellow and white Super-LumiNova, nicely contrasting the blue dial and the Black PVD-titanium case measuring 45 mm in diameter. The in-house automatic movement powering the piece features a 40-hour power reserve, a swan-neck regulator spring and a platinum oscillating weight and is fully visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. However the most hypnotizing part – the constant-force escapement mechanism – is enthroned right on the dial side at 6. The watch is limited to 20 pieces and will be available at the price of CHF 126,000.
