A contemporary take on a classic piece with the ever-useful date and moon-phase functions.
According to Girard-Perregaux, the black case and the blue dial of the 1966 Blue Moon symbolize the dark cosmos and the airy Earth. The DLC-treated microblasted steel case measuring 40 mm in diameter, is complemented by the integrated alligator leather strap with matt black rubber effect enhanced with blue topstitching. The deep blue delicately curved dial is a fine background for the baton-type hour-markers, leaf type hour and minute hands and centre seconds, as well as a pointer-type date display at 6 o’clock featuring a red dot on the 31st day, and a timeless moon-phase indication in the centre.
The Swiss manufacture has equipped this model with a tried and trusted automatic movement. Calibre GP3300-0115 comprises 276 components graced with six different finishes. The meticulously circular-grained, chamfered and mirror-polished mainplate and bridges, the blued screws and the oscillating weight adorned with Côtes de Genève, are subtly revealed through its metalized glareproofed sapphire caseback. The 1966 Blue Moon delivers a power reserve of at least 46 hours, and is water-resistant to 3 ATM (30 m).
