A black Damascus-steel beauty with the gleaming mother-of-pearl dial by a boutique Swedish brand.
GoS Skadi
Named after the winter goddess of Norse mythology and inspired by the viking shield decorations, the Skadi by Swedish watchmaker-blacksmith duo GoS (Gustafsson & Sjögren) really stands out in terms of watch design. The 44.5-mm case made mainly of a trademark black damascus steel features a special PVD coating. Paired with the contrasting red gold rings, it further emphasizes the natural pattern of the Damascus steel. The golden lugs are decorated with the Viking knots. The dial is made from white mother-of-pearl, which is both colored and backlit through use of a thick layer of modern SuperLuminova, so it glows in the dark. It is framed by the golden ring with the sapphire indexes echoing the blue sapphire adorning the crown.

The spear-shaped central hour and minute hands as well as the triple small seconds pointer at 6 are also made of hand-forged Damascus steel. The caseback is transparent so you can take a closer look at the manually-wound movement with a 46-hour power reserve. The main focus here goes to the bridges that are manufactured from one solid piece of artistic Damascus steel with contrasting golden engravings. The watch is fitted with a moose leather strap, but GoS also offers alternatives to further personalization. The retail price of GoS Skadi is $42,000 with the overall production limited to just 5 pieces.
