The monopusher chronograph makes its grand entrance into the brand’s essential collection.
Jaquet Droz presents the Grande Seconde Chronograph in two major versions: the inaugural edition limited to only 88 with the vertically aligned sub-dials and the three non-limited permanent references with slightly off-centered sub-dials. The 43-mm red gold limited edition features an eye-catching ivory-colored Grand Feu enamel dial. The fine Arabic and Roman numerals are produced using Petit Feu enamel, another delicate firing technique. The indication includes the main time register in the upper part of the dial, the central chronograph seconds hand, and the retrograde date / chrono minute counter in the lower part of the dial. Both chrono hands are in blued steel.
A trio of more contemporary pieces offer a steel case measuring 43 mm. The dial is available in a choice of sand-blasted silver, blue or taupe gray, and is finished by hand using a dry sand-blasting technique. As the dials of these versions are off-centered, the crown has also shifted to 4 o’clock.
Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Chronograph is powered by the automatic 26M5R monopusher chronograph movement using a column wheel construction and incorporating a silicon balance spring. In all four versions the oscillating weight is heavily skeletonized providing the best perspective on the meticulous finishings.
