Moritz Grossmann and Christie's auctions twelve one-off pieces dedicated to the culture of Chinese astrology. Regional artists from Dresden have put their personal interpretations of Chinese zodiac signs onto canvas. Their works have been painted onto the dials inside the 41-mm cases by a miniaturist using the finest drawing techniques. These works of art will be auctioned together with the watches in an online auction until 2 December 2019.

A selected unique piece with the image of the Rat – the sign of the year 2020 – is presented in a case made from rose gold, all other models are offered in stainless steel. Minimalistic hour and minutes hand are manually crafted from steel, and in some models, they annealed over an open flame to get a brown-violet hue. The whole collection is powered by the manually wound calibre 100.1 with only hours and minutes, visible through the transparent caseback made of sapphire crystal. On a distinctive 2/3 mainplate with broad horizontal ribbing, the signet is engraved by hand. The Grossmann balance is visible in the curved plate cut-out and is held buy the hand-engraved balance cock with the typical fine micrometer screw.

The estimate price for each timepiece starts from HK$ 120,000. As an expression of its links to the Saxony region, Grossmann Uhren GmbH will donate a portion of the proceeds to a regional aid organization from Dresden.
