A very special dress watch totally exposing the minute repeater and tourbillon action.
On the occasion of the 2019 Watch Art Grand Exhibition in Singapore, Patek Philippe has introduced six limited-edition watches reserved exclusively for the markets in Southeast Asia. One of them is the Ref. 5303R-010 Minute Repeater Tourbillon – a new grand complication produced in just 12 pieces. The rose-gold 42mm case features some decorative inlays in white gold on right and left sides and lugs. The slide activating the minute repeater is also made of white gold. Paying tribute to Singapore, the hour circle is a red-lacquered sapphire-crystal ring decorated with white stars – a hint to the flag of the Asian city-state.
There’s no such thing as a traditional dial here, and the manually wound caliber R TO 27 PS is proudly visible right from the front side. The gongs are attached directly on the inside of the caseband for improved sound quality. The tourbillon is located at 6 o’clock and the underside of its cage can be viewed through an aperture of the plate. The hours and minute indication with pierced dark blue leaf-shaped hands is complemented by a small seconds red hand sitting atop the tourbillon.
The movement view from the caseback is framed by a skeletonized pattern in white gold that echoes the style of the case inlays. The sapphire-crystal here is engraved with the ‘Patek Philippe Singapore 2019’ inscription. Each piece also features an interchangeable solid-gold caseback. The watch comes on shiny black alligator leather strap with red decorative stitching matching the hour scale on the dial’s outer ring.
