Vacheron Constantin updates its Métiers d’Art The Legend of the Chinese Zodiac line with the sign of the rat that will take over from the pig at the New Year. It will be available in platinum and pink gold, twelve pieces each. Just like the previous installments, the dial motif inspired by the classic Chinese iconography is etched directly in the metal. The pattern remains semi-embedded and stands out from its base by a subtle stage-setting of variously accentuating reliefs creating a depth effect. Then comes the stage of Grand Feu enamelling of the blue or bronze tones. The rat, made of platinum or pink gold, is hand engraved and delicately applied to the dial centre. The case measuring 40 mm in diameter is fitted with dark blue or brown alligator leather strap with large square scales.
The in-house automatic calibre 2460 G4 uses no hands, indicating hours, minutes, day, and a date via the four apertures, and thus giving the central stage for the decorative arts. Clearly visible through the sapphire crystal back of the platinum or pink gold case, the gold open-worked oscillating weight features a decor inspired by the Maltese cross emblem. All movement components are finished in accordance with the Hallmark of Geneva. The power reserve of the movement is approximately 40 hours.
