Last year’s newcomer goes even sportier with the introduction of the flyback chronograph version.

The sporty-chic Alpine Eagle collection entered the market in 2019 with quite a bang, for the integrated bracelet everyday luxury watch game has never been so hot and sought after. This time the brand introduces a logical successor to the tree-handed original – the Alpine Eagle XL Chrono. And if you were quite impressed the last time, now you’d likely about to fall in love.

As the name suggests, the Alpine Eagle XL Chrono isn’t exactly a small watch. It comes in 44-mm round case with massive bezel featuring four pairs of screws. And of course, the integrated bracelet of a distinctive pattern with polished middle link and brushed side links really adds to the massive wrist presence. The piece is available in a trademark non-allergic and ultra sturdy steel or in combination of steel and rose gold, with the bezel and the middle row of bracelet links made of the latter. The screw-down crown and the 100-meter water resistance rating keep up to the everyday-sporty character.
The 03.05-C automatic caliber has 60 hours of power reserve
The steel Alpine Eagle XL Chrono comes with either blue or grey dials, and the two-tone variant adds some black to the picture. While all three colors are nice and deep, it’s the combination of gold and black that we find particularly striking. The layout itself is more or less traditional Chopard with small seconds at 6, a 30-minute counter at 3, a 12-hour counter at 9, and a color matched date at 4:30. The sub-dials are finished in contrasting techniques, and the inlayed hour markers are nicely combined with the large Roman XII.

The movement inside is the 03.05-C automatic caliber with a column-wheel flyback chronograph function. Beating at the classical 4 Hz, it has 60 hours of power reserve, and as any Chopard movement is backed by an official chronometric COSC certificate. The price for the Alpine Eagle XL Chrono is CHF 19,200 for both steel variants and CHF 26,800 for the two-tone version.
