A whole new collection dripping with colorful stones and hi-tech engineering.
Love or hate Richard Mille aesthetics and marketing tactics, but never can someone describe the brand as ‘dull’. And I’d guess, the fact of being a sole inventor and pioneer of the ultra luxury watch market, naturally pushes the company to constantly raise the bar of boldness and loudness even higher. Well, the new Richard Mille RM 71-02 Automatic Tourbillon Talisman seems to be pretty anti-minimalistic too.
Just by its flamboyant exteriors, you can instantly recognize some disco era vibe involved in the RM 71-02 designs. According to the brand, the other important inspiration was symbolic power of stone choices: hematite for strength, malachite for inner balance, lapis lazuli for vision, and so on. The quantity varies for each of the 10 variations, but we’re talking roughly a little less than a thousand stones per piece. And of course, every model differs from its siblings in faceting, color-scheme, geometry of setting, and so on. Remember the Bonbon collection? Despite being totally different in aesthetics, this one lands not far away in terms of the overall spirit.
All 10 models are powered by the same skeletonized in-house automatic movement featuring hours, minutes, a tourbillon, and all the usual crazy technical stuff, you’d expect from Richard Mille in latest years. The mainplate and bridges are in titanium, the wheel train boasts a new teeth-clutch system, and the rotor has a trademark variable-geometry adjustments, meaning you can set its sensitivity depending on your activity plans. Being a common thing for Richard Mille for years now, this time it also comes in bi-metal execution of white and red gold as well as some charmingly delicate diamond setting.
RM 71-02 Automatic Tourbillon Talisman is available in a trademark 52.2x34.4 mm cases of either red or white gold. This sophisticatedly gem-set beauty is complemented by a pack of colorful leather straps, of quite a distinct design. The production is limited to 7 pieces of each reference, so all the interested parties should probably hurry.
