The start of a long-term partnership results in a totally over-the-top statement piece and then another one sporty watch that doesn’t really care about subtleness.
The partnership between two luxury brands was getting quite a momentum at this year’s Baselworld with not one but two new watches. Oh, and the guys from Jacob & Co. even managed to get a real Bugatti Chiron car right to their booth at the second floor! As the saying goes, don’t try this at home… Anyway the watches were indeed interesting and on top of that, totally different. The first was the Twin Turbo Furious Bugatti – a stunning mechanical extravaganza packed with double triple axis tourbillons running in different speed, a column-wheel mono-pusher chrono, and a decimal minute repeater. All this craziness is packed in a titanium and carbon case measuring 57x52mm and comes in a limited edition of 20 pieces. If that’s not the ultimate watch for a Bugatti owner, then we don’t know what is.
The second watch born of this collaboration is Epic X Chrono Carbon Bugatti – a bold 47 mm black DLC titanium and carbon piece powered by self-winding column-wheel chronograph movement seen through the transparent caseback. Its counters are arranged in a bi-compax format with the small running seconds on the left, at nine o’clock, and the elapsed minutes counter on the right, at three o’clock. Its limited run of 110 pays homage to Bugatti’s 110-year history and its sleek black dial sports the colors of the French flag. As you’d expect from the daily wearer, the Epic X Chrono Carbon Bugatti has a solid 200-m water resistance and is certainly ready to take some wear and tear.
